Paris Bennett is a name that might sound familiar to you if you’re a fan of reality TV shows. In 2006, she made it to the top 5 contestants on the fifth season of American Idol. However, her story took a dark turn when she was convicted of murdering her own half-sister at the age of 13.

What Happened to Paris Bennett?

Paris Bennett was born in 1988 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in a musical family and started singing at a young age. Her mother Jamecia Bennett is a well-known R&B singer and her father Randy was also a musician.

In February 2007, Paris was arrested for the murder of her half-sister, five-year-old Ella Lee Bennett. According to reports, Paris had planned the murder for months and had even written about it in her journal. She strangled Ella with a belt while their father was asleep in another room.

Paris was charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. She was just 17 years old at the time of sentencing.

Paris Bennett has been in prison for over a decade now and is currently serving her sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility – Shakopee.

While there isn’t much information available about what she does on a daily basis, it’s known that she has been involved in various programs offered by the prison such as education and vocational training. According to reports, she has earned her high school diploma and is also pursuing higher education through correspondence courses.
