Who was Stonewall Jackson?
Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson was born on January 21, 1824, in Clarksburg, Virginia (now West Virginia). He graduated from West Point Academy and served in the Mexican-American War before resigning his commission to become a professor at Virginia Military Institute.
When the Civil War broke out, he joined the Confederate Army and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of its most successful commanders.
