Hiking, Trekking and Backpacking are three activities that are often confused with each other. While they do have some similarities, each one is a distinct activity with its own set of characteristics.

Hiking can be done on trails or paths, but it can also be done off-trail as well. Hiking generally involves a relatively short distance and a relatively low level of difficulty.

Trekking is a bit more demanding than hiking. It usually involves longer distances than hiking and usually takes place over several days or weeks. Trekking usually involves more difficult terrain than hiking and often involves carrying camping gear for overnight stops along the way.

Backpacking is the most demanding of the three activities and requires the greatest amount of preparation. Backpacking trips involve long distances over difficult terrain, often taking several days or even weeks to complete. Backpackers typically carry all their supplies on their backs, including food, water, shelter and other camping equipment.

In conclusion, Hiking, Trekking, and Backpacking are all forms of outdoor activity that involve walking in nature for pleasure or exploration.
