One such incident was with Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas on August 4th, 2019 when it experienced an engine issue caused by an oil leak in one of its engines while sailing in the North Atlantic Ocean. The ship had to be towed back to port by tugboats while passengers were kept informed with regular updates from captain and crew.
In 2018, Carnival Cruise Line had multiple incidents involving their Carnival Fantasy when it became stranded twice due to propulsion issues in April 2018 and August 2018 respectively. Both times, the ship was forced to stay in port for multiple days until engineers were able fix its engines.
In 2017, P&O Cruises’ Azura also experienced engine trouble while sailing off the coast of England on July 20th. The ship had to cut its voyage short and return back to port after engineers found that one of its propellers was damaged beyond repair. Fortunately no one was injured during this incident.
