By Michael Ferguson

Cornwall is renowned for its wild seals and is a hotspot for seal spotting. There are plenty of places to observe these majestic creatures in the wild, with some of the best spots being located on both coasts of Cornwall.

One great spot to view seals is around the Lizard Peninsula; this part of Cornwall has a thriving population of both Grey and Common Seals. The area is especially popular with Grey Seals, with up to 1,000 individuals being spotted during peak season. You can observe them at numerous locations around the peninsula, such as Bass Point and Housel Bay.

The Isles of Scilly is also a great spot for seal watching; they are particularly fond of Tresco and Bryher island. Here you can find both Grey and Common Seals basking in the sun on the shorelines or swimming around nearby rocks. The seals can be seen from boats or from land at Old Grimsby beach on Bryher Island, which offers excellent views out over the sea.

Another great place to observe seals in Cornwall is along the north coast; here you can find both Common and Grey Seals. The Fal Estuary between Falmouth and Truro is one such spot that provides good opportunities for seal spotting; other areas include Perranporth Beach, St Agnes Head, Godrevy Point and Watergate Bay. These beaches are also good spots to view dolphins too!

Conclusion: In conclusion, Cornwall offers some amazing opportunities for viewing wild seals in their natural environment. The Lizard Peninsula and Isles of Scilly are great places to view Grey Seals, whilst along the north coast you can find both Common and Grey Seals in abundance. With some careful observation you should have no problem finding these beautiful creatures – so why not give it a try?
