San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a Caribbean port city with a rich history and vibrant culture. It is known as the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States and has been home to pirates and traders for centuries. The city has long been a favorite destination for cruise ships, offering visitors the opportunity to explore its old town, take in its stunning architecture, experience its delicious food, and bask in its tropical climate.
Cruise ships dock at various locations throughout San Juan. The most popular port of call is San Juan’s Pan American Cruise Ship Terminal located on the waterfront at Pier 3.
This terminal is home to many of the major cruise lines such as Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line. From here passengers can explore Old San Juan with its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial buildings and vibrant art galleries. They can also take part in water sports such as snorkeling and scuba diving or enjoy the beach at Condado Beach or Isla Verde Beach.
The other major port of call for cruise ships is the Port of San Juan’s Piers 14 & 15 at La Puntilla Bay near Isla Verde Beach. This port serves many of the same cruise lines as Pier 3 but offers slightly different attractions due to its location away from Old San Juan. Passengers disembarking from this pier can enjoy a wide range of activities including shopping at local stores or exploring nearby attractions such as Castillo de San Cristóbal or El Morro fort.
Finally, some smaller cruise lines may dock at the Port of San Juan’s Pier 4 located near Old San Juan’s financial district. This port serves fewer cruise lines than Pier 3 or Piers 14 & 15 but still provides passengers with an opportunity to explore some of the city’s best attractions including Fortaleza Street’s colorful buildings and plazas as well as Plaza de Armas which houses an impressive collection of 16th-century cannons facing out towards El Morro fort.
In conclusion, there are three main ports that cruise ships dock at in San Juan; Pier 3 (Pan American Cruise Ship Terminal), Piers 14 & 15 (La Puntilla Bay) and Pier 4 (near Old San Juan’s Financial District).
