Where Is Mike London Coaching Now?

By Alice Nichols

If you’re a fan of college football, you may be wondering where Mike London, the former head coach of the University of Virginia Cavaliers, is coaching now. London had a successful tenure at UVA, leading the team to an 8-5 record and a bowl game victory in his second season as head coach. However, he resigned from his position in 2015 and has since moved on to other coaching opportunities.

Howard University: After leaving UVA, London took on the role of head coach at Howard University, a historically black university located in Washington D.C. In his first season with the Bison, London led the team to a 2-9 record.

However, he quickly turned things around and led them to a 7-4 record in his second season. Under his leadership, Howard won their first MEAC championship in over two decades.

University of Maryland: In December of 2018, Mike London was named as the associate head coach and defensive line coach at the University of Maryland. He joined fellow former UVA head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s staff as part of an effort to rebuild Maryland’s football program.

William & Mary: In November of 2019, London was announced as the new head football coach at William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia. This move brought him back to his home state and gave him another opportunity to lead a college football program.

  • London’s Coaching Record:
  • University of Virginia (2010-2015): Overall Record – 27-46
  • Howard University (2017-2018): Overall Record – 11-10
  • University of Maryland (2019-Present): No Head Coach Record
  • William & Mary (2019-Present): No Head Coach Record

London’s Coaching Style:

As a coach, Mike London is known for his emphasis on discipline and hard work. He places a strong emphasis on academics and character development, believing that these are crucial components of building a successful football program. London has also been praised for his ability to recruit top talent, particularly in the state of Virginia.

In Conclusion:

While Mike London’s tenure at the University of Virginia may not have been as successful as some had hoped, he has continued to make an impact in the world of college football. From leading Howard University to their first MEAC championship in decades to taking on new challenges at Maryland and William & Mary, London has shown that he is a dedicated coach who is always looking for ways to improve himself and his teams. We’ll have to wait and see where his coaching career takes him next.
