By Robert Palmer

Metal detecting is a great way to explore the outdoors while searching for buried treasure. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, there are plenty of places to search and find great finds. Where you go depends on your experience, the type of metal detector you have, and the types of items you’re hoping to find.

Beaches – Beaches are often a great spot for metal detecting because there can be an array of items buried in the sand. People often lose jewelry and coins in the sand and waves, so these can be a great place to start. Depending on where you live, some beaches may also have restrictions when it comes to metal detecting.

Old battlefields – If you’re looking for artifacts from history, then searching old battlefields can be a great option. Many battlefields have been around for centuries and can contain relics from past wars or battles. It is important to note that many battlefields are now protected sites, so it is important to check with local authorities before metal detecting.

Ghost towns – Ghost towns are another place that can yield interesting finds. These areas used to be thriving towns but were abandoned over time. As a result, many items were left behind and could still be buried deep in the ground waiting to be discovered.

Abandoned buildings – Abandoned buildings are also a great place to search for things that may have been lost by previous occupants. These items could range from coins or jewelry to historical artifacts which could make them very valuable finds.

Riverbeds – Riverbeds are another great option for metal detecting as they often contain items that have been washed downstream from upstream sources. This could include coins, jewelry or even relics from old shipwrecks.

Your own backyard – Finally, your own backyard is also a great place for metal detecting as it can contain hidden treasures that you never knew existed! Coins or artifacts may have been buried by previous owners or simply lost over time due to erosion or other natural causes.
