Where Is the Cruise Ship Carnival Spirit Now?

By Alice Nichols

The Carnival Spirit is one of Carnival Cruise Line’s most beloved vessels. This three-deck ship offers a wide range of activities for its guests, from the main pool and outdoor movie theater to its variety of dining options.

Over the years, the Carnival Spirit has sailed across the globe, visiting places such as Alaska, Australia, and Europe. But recently, the Carnival Spirit has been on a different kind of voyage.

In late 2020, the Carnival Spirit left its home port in Sydney, Australia and embarked on a year-long journey around South America. It left from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and visited ports in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Ecuador before returning to Rio in March 2021. Along the way it was able to visit some of South America’s most beautiful cities and experience some of its unique culture.

After returning to Rio de Janeiro at the end of March 2021, the Carnival Spirit made its way north towards Miami. The crew had planned to visit a few Caribbean islands along the way but had to alter their route due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After spending several weeks sailing around Central America they finally arrived in Miami at the beginning of May 2021.

The Carnival Spirit is currently docked in Miami while it undergoes maintenance before its next voyage. Once complete it will be heading back out into open waters with a new itinerary that includes stops in Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island and Mexico before returning back to Miami later this year.
