The Cruise Ship Insignia was originally launched in 1998 and was operated by Oceania Cruises. The ship has a total length of 30,277 gross tons, a width of 118 feet and a maximum speed of 19 knots. It can accommodate up to 684 passengers, with 459 crew members.

The Insignia was renowned for its luxurious amenities, such as the Grand Dining Room, which served guests with exquisite cuisine from around the world. Guests could also enjoy the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, which offered treatments such as massages and facials, as well as the state-of-the-art theater which hosted Broadway-style shows.

The Insignia set sail on its maiden voyage on March 25th 1998 from Miami to Puerto Rico. Over the next two decades the ship sailed around the Caribbean and Mediterranean Sea’s calling at ports in France, Spain, Greece and Italy. The Cruise Ship also visited Alaska for summer cruises before returning to its homeport in Miami for winter cruises.

In 2018 Oceania Cruises decided to retire their flagship vessel after 20 years of service. The Insignia made its final voyage on March 28th 2018, cruising from Barcelona to London with stops in France and Spain along the way. Upon its arrival in London it was announced that it would be sold to a German company who intended to use it as part of their river cruise fleet.

Since then there has been speculation about where exactly the Cruise Ship is now but nothing has been confirmed yet. It is believed that it is currently located in Germany undergoing renovations before taking up its new role as a river cruise vessel. It is expected that once all renovations are complete it will embark on its first cruise down one of Europe’s famous rivers sometime later this year or early next year.
