Where Is the Majestic Cruise Ship Now?

By Anna Duncan

The Majestic was once one of the most luxurious cruise ships ever built, sailing around the world and providing its passengers with an unforgettable experience. Originally built in 1952, the Majestic was a grand ocean liner that could accommodate up to 1,500 passengers and over 800 crew members.

It was renowned for its opulence and grandeur, with luxurious cabins, bars and restaurants to rival any on land. It sailed all over the world in its heyday, with its ports of call including destinations in Europe, South America, North America and Australia.

However, after a few decades of service, the Majestic’s popularity began to wane and it fell into disrepair. In 1975 it was sold for scrap and sent to be broken down in Taiwan. But luckily for its admirers around the world, this was not the end of its story.

Two years later, it was purchased by a group of investors who had plans to turn the ship into a floating hotel. After a long and costly restoration process which included sandblasting away layers of rust and replacing entire sections of hull plating, it re-emerged as the Paradise Hotel. It opened up in 1979 as one of Singapore’s first floating hotels.

The Paradise Hotel experienced great success over the years as both a hotel and popular tourist attraction. However due to rising costs it eventually closed in 1999.

Where Is The Majestic Cruise Ship Now?

Today the Majestic still exists but is no longer used as a hotel or cruise ship. It is now permanently moored at Marina South Pier in Singapore where it is used as an events venue. Despite being almost 70 years old, it still retains much of its original charm and elegance.

Conclusion:

The Majestic cruise ship has come a long way since its heyday back in 1952 when it first set sail for distant shores. After being sold for scrap in 1975, it has been restored as the Paradise Hotel and now serves as an events venue at Marina South Pier in Singapore.
