Where Is the Westerdam Cruise Ship Right Now?

By Anna Duncan

The Westerdam is a cruise ship owned by the Holland America Line. It is one of the world’s largest and most luxurious cruise ships, offering guests an unforgettable voyage full of entertainment, activities and destinations. The ship has sailed around the world, visiting some of the most exotic ports in the world. In January 2020, the Westerdam was set to embark on a two-week journey from Japan to Southeast Asia.

The journey began in Yokohama, Japan on January 28th. After three days at sea, the ship made its first stop in Naha, Okinawa. From there it sailed to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; then stopped in Bangkok, Thailand; followed by Sihanoukville, Cambodia; and ended in Singapore.

During this time passengers were able to explore each port city and take part in onboard activities such as cooking classes and live music performances.

Unfortunately, shortly after leaving Singapore on February 5th, the Westerdam was denied entry into multiple ports due to an unfounded fear that it might be carrying passengers with coronavirus (COVID-19). After being turned away from numerous ports across Southeast Asia, the ship was eventually granted permission to dock in Cambodia on February 13th.

The Westerdam has been an unfortunate victim of fear surrounding COVID-19 but thankfully all passengers are safe and will soon be returning home.

Conclusion: The Westerdam Cruise Ship is currently docked at Sihanoukville Port in Cambodia where all passengers have been screened for COVID-19 and no cases have been found so far.
