Where Was Cousin Vicki in Christmas Vacation?

By Michael Ferguson

If you’re a fan of the classic holiday movie, Christmas Vacation, you may have noticed that one of the Griswold family members was conspicuously absent from the festivities. Cousin Vicki, who played a memorable role in the first National Lampoon’s Vacation movie, was nowhere to be seen in Christmas Vacation. So what happened to her?

There are a few different theories and rumors circulating about why Cousin Vicki didn’t make an appearance in Christmas Vacation. One popular theory is that actress Jane Krakowski, who played Vicki in the first movie, was busy filming other projects and wasn’t available to reprise her role.

Another possibility is that the filmmakers simply chose not to include Cousin Vicki in the script for Christmas Vacation. The movie already had a large cast of characters, including all of Clark Griswold’s immediate family members as well as his quirky neighbors and coworkers.

Regardless of why she didn’t appear on screen, Cousin Vicki remains a beloved character among fans of the franchise. Her wild antics and hilarious one-liners stole the show in National Lampoon’s Vacation, and many viewers were disappointed not to see more of her in subsequent movies.

But even though she wasn’t physically present in Christmas Vacation, Cousin Vicki still managed to make an impact on the story. In one scene where Clark is reminiscing about past holiday gatherings with his family, he mentions that Vicki is “doing a real service” by working at a local mall as an elf during Christmastime.

Overall, while it would have been nice to see more of Cousin Vicki in Christmas Vacation, her absence doesn’t detract from the film’s status as a holiday classic. And for fans who want more of this zany character, there’s always National Lampoon’s Vacation and its many sequels to enjoy!
