Which Country Has Most Vacation Days?

By Michael Ferguson

When it comes to vacation, some countries are known for their generous policies while others are notorious for lack thereof. If you’re someone who values time off to recharge, it’s important to know which countries offer the most vacation days.

Which Country Has the Most Vacation Days?

The country with the most vacation days is Brazil, where employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave. This is closely followed by Austria, which offers 25 days of paid vacation and 13 paid holidays per year.

In third place is Germany, where employees receive 20-30 days of paid vacation depending on their seniority and industry. Fourth on the list is Italy, where workers receive 20-26 days of paid leave depending on their length of service.

Other Countries with Generous Vacation Policies

France is another country known for its generous vacation policy. Employees in France get at least 25 days of paid leave and may get up to 31 days depending on their industry and length of service.

Spain also has a generous policy when it comes to vacation time. Workers in Spain are entitled to at least 22 days of paid leave plus an additional day off for every ten years they’ve worked.

In Sweden, employees get five weeks (25 working days) of paid leave per year. This is in addition to public holidays and other special circumstances like weddings or moving house.

Countries with Less Vacation Time

At the other end of the spectrum are countries with less generous vacation policies. In Japan, for example, employees get an average of just ten days off per year. Similarly, in the United States, there is no legal requirement for employers to provide paid vacation time and many workers don’t receive any at all.

In China, workers typically receive around five to fifteen days of annual leave depending on their length of service. In Russia, employees get a minimum of 28 calendar days off per year, but this includes public holidays.

Overall, it’s clear that there is a lot of variation between countries when it comes to vacation time. If you’re someone who values time off and wants to make the most of your vacation days, it’s worth considering which countries offer the most generous policies.
