By Anna Duncan

Carnival Cruise Lines is one of the largest cruise lines in the world, offering a variety of ships and destinations to its passengers. The company was founded in 1972 and since then has grown to become one of the most popular cruise lines in the world.

Carnival Cruise Lines currently operates 25 ships, ranging from superliners to smaller vessels. The oldest Carnival Cruise ship in its fleet is the Mardi Gras, which first set sail in 1972.

The Mardi Gras is a classic cruise ship with a capacity for 1,011 passengers and 537 crew members. It features all the amenities you’d expect on a Carnival Cruise ship such as a casino, swimming pools, movie theaters, lounges and bars, restaurants and much more.

The Mardi Gras is also home to some of Carnival’s signature features such as its red-and-white funnel with an image of King Neptune on it, as well as its signature horseshoe-shaped atrium which serves as the hub of activities on board. In addition, the Mardi Gras also offers some unique experiences such as its own private island – Half Moon Cay – located near Nassau in the Bahamas.

Despite being one of Carnival’s oldest ships, the Mardi Gras has kept up with modern times by undergoing regular refurbishments over the years. Its most recent renovation took place in January 2017 where it was outfitted with new cabins, public spaces and entertainment venues.

Conclusion: The Mardi Gras is Carnival Cruise Line’s oldest ship having set sail for its maiden voyage back in 1972. Despite being one of Carnival’s oldest ships it has undergone regular refurbishments over the years and continues to offer passengers an enjoyable cruising experience with all the amenities they would expect from a modern cruise ship.
