Who Is the Coach of Barcelona?

By Robert Palmer

If you’re a Barcelona fan or a football enthusiast, you must be wondering who is currently coaching the iconic Spanish club. Well, you’ve come to the right place! The current coach of Barcelona is Ronald Koeman, a former Dutch footballer who has had an illustrious career both as a player and as a coach.

Early Career and Playing Days
Koeman started his playing career at Groningen in 1980 and went on to play for several clubs including Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, and Feyenoord. He was known for his exceptional free-kick skills and scored many crucial goals for his teams. Koeman had a successful stint with Barcelona as well where he won four La Liga titles and played alongside the likes of Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola, and Romário.

Coaching Career
After retiring as a player in 1997, Koeman started his coaching career at Vitesse Arnhem. He then coached several other clubs including Ajax Amsterdam, Benfica, Valencia CF, AZ Alkmaar before finally getting the chance to coach the Dutch national team in 2018.

Koeman’s biggest achievement as a coach came when he led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 18 years in 2017. He also led Southampton to their highest Premier League finish in over three decades during his tenure from 2014-2016.

Return To Barcelona
Koeman returned to Barcelona in August 2020 as head coach after Quique Setién was sacked following a humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Koeman has been tasked with rebuilding the team and bringing back their glory days after a lackluster season where they finished second behind Real Madrid in La Liga.

Koeman’s first task was to convince Lionel Messi to stay at the club, which he was able to do. He has also brought in several new players including Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero to strengthen the team’s attack.

Conclusion
Ronald Koeman is a well-respected coach in the football world and has a tough job ahead of him at Barcelona. However, with his experience as a player and coach, he is more than capable of leading the team to success. Barcelona fans will be hoping that he can bring back the glory days to Camp Nou and help them win their first Champions League title since 2015.
