Mr. Patel started his political career as a member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as a Member of Parliament from Damoh constituency in Madhya Pradesh since 1996 until he was elected to represent the same constituency in May 2019.
