Who Is the Tourism Minister of India Now?

India is a country of rich heritage, diverse cultures and stunning landscapes that attract millions of tourists from around the globe every year. The tourism industry plays a vital role in the country’s economy, and the government has been taking several measures to promote it further. As such, the position of Tourism Minister is one of great responsibility.

Currently, Prahlad Singh Patel holds the position of Tourism Minister in India. He was appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism on May 31, 2019, under the second term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Before taking up this position, Patel had served as a Member of Parliament from Damoh constituency in Madhya Pradesh. He has also previously held positions such as President of BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit and Member of BJP National Executive.

As the Tourism Minister, Patel has been actively involved in promoting India as a tourist destination globally. He has been working towards developing new initiatives and policies to boost the tourism industry in India further. One such initiative is ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign, launched by him to encourage domestic travel within India.

Under his leadership, several projects have been initiated to improve infrastructure and facilities at tourist destinations across the country. This includes projects such as Swadesh Darshan Scheme and PRASHAD Scheme aimed at developing pilgrimage and heritage sites across India.
