Who Owns the Sirata Beach Resort?

By Anna Duncan

If you’re planning a vacation in the beautiful city of St. Pete Beach, Florida, then the Sirata Beach Resort should definitely be on your list of potential accommodations. But have you ever wondered who owns this stunning beachfront property? In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the history and ownership of the Sirata Beach Resort.

History of the Sirata Beach Resort

The Sirata Beach Resort was originally built in 1968 by a group of local businessmen led by Henry Green. At the time, it was known as the Sirata Beach Club and consisted of just 50 rooms. Over the years, the property expanded to include additional buildings and amenities, including multiple pools, restaurants, and event spaces.

In 2015, the resort underwent a major renovation that included updates to all guest rooms and public areas. Today, it boasts over 380 rooms and suites spread across three different buildings.

Ownership of the Sirata Beach Resort

So who actually owns this expansive beachfront resort? The answer is somewhat complicated.

In 2017, it was announced that Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts & Affiliates had acquired a majority stake in the Sirata Beach Resort. However, it’s worth noting that Ocean Properties is not actually an individual person or entity – rather, it’s a hotel management company that operates over 100 properties throughout North America.

The remaining ownership stake in the resort is held by members of the Green family – specifically, Henry Green’s daughter Lisa Williams and her husband Jeff Williams. Lisa serves as Vice President of Operations for the resort while Jeff is President and CEO.

Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts & Affiliates

As mentioned earlier, Ocean Properties is not an individual owner of the Sirata Beach Resort but rather a hotel management company. Founded in 1986 by Tom Walsh and Mark Walsh (no relation), the company has since grown to become one of the largest privately-owned hotel management companies in North America.

In addition to the Sirata Beach Resort, Ocean Properties operates a variety of other hotels and resorts throughout the US and Canada. Some of their other properties include:

  • The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY
  • LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, FL
  • HarbourView Inn in Charleston, SC

Conclusion

While the ownership structure of the Sirata Beach Resort may be somewhat complex, one thing is clear – it’s a beautiful property that’s been enjoyed by countless guests over the years. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation or a fun-filled family getaway, this resort is definitely worth considering.
