According to a survey conducted by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in 2018, business travel accounted for approximately 44% of all air travel in the United States. That number is down from the previous year’s survey which found that business travel made up about 49% of all air travel in 2017.

The GBTA survey also found that most business trips are domestic in nature, with 84% of respondents saying their most recent trip was within the United States. International trips accounted for 16% of respondents’ most recent trips, while only 2% traveled more than once internationally within the last 12 months.

The GBTA report also noted that the majority of business travelers prefer airlines with more amenities such as more legroom, better entertainment options and complimentary meals or snacks. These amenities make it easier for travelers to stay productive and comfortable during their trips.

Business travelers are also willing to pay a premium for flights that offer non-stop flights or those with shorter connections. This is because these flights can save travelers time which can then be used for other important tasks or activities related to their jobs.
