What Happened to the Norwegian Wind Cruise Ship?

By Anna Duncan

On March 14th, 2019, the Norwegian Wind Cruise Ship left Buenos Aires, Argentina and made its way through the Atlantic Ocean. The journey was supposed to take the luxury cruise ship to its next destination in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

However, after a few days at sea, the ship’s engine suddenly stopped working. The captain and crew scrambled to get the engine running again but were unable to do so. As a result, the Norwegian Wind was forced to drift helplessly in the open ocean for nearly a week before being rescued by another cruise ship.

The passengers on board were terrified by this unexpected event and some even feared for their lives. The crew was able to keep everyone calm and entertain them with games and activities while they waited for help.

Fortunately, after six days of being adrift in the ocean, another cruise liner spotted them and came to their rescue just in time. All passengers were safely transferred onto the other cruise ship and taken back to shore.

The cause of the engine failure on the Norwegian Wind is still unknown but experts believe that it may have been due to a fuel shortage or an electrical problem. The crew had attempted repairs but were unable to fix it before they were rescued. In any case, all passengers are safe and sound now.
