What Happened to the Cruise Ship Pacific Princess?

By Anna Duncan

In the 1970s, the Pacific Princess was a symbol of romance and luxury. It was featured on the hit show “The Love Boat” and quickly became a household name. But what happened to the Pacific Princess?

The ship was built in 1971 by the Italian shipbuilder Cantieri Navali Riuniti, and it was christened by Princess Anne of Great Britain. It originally served as a cruise liner for Flagship Cruises in Europe, but eventually moved to cruising in the Caribbean and Bahamas. The Pacific Princess was also used for charters and private cruises, including a trip to Antarctica.

In 1975, it began appearing on “The Love Boat” and quickly became an icon of pop culture. The show ended in 1987, but the Pacific Princess continued to cruise until 2002 when it was sold to Premier Cruise Lines. It operated as a cruise ship for Premier until 2004 when it moved to operating as a ferry service.

After its time as a ferry service ended, the Pacific Princess was sold again in 2007 to Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV). Under CMV’s ownership, it sailed out of Tilbury Dock in London until 2016. In 2017, it was sold once more to an investment group from Turkey who intended to use it as a floating hotel.

Conclusion:

The Pacific Princess started its life as a luxury cruise liner in Europe before appearing on “The Love Boat” and becoming an icon of pop culture. After that, it served various roles including ferry service and floating hotel before being retired in 2017 after 46 years of sailing.
