Did I Ever Tell You About the Time I Went Backpacking in Western Europe?

By Anna Duncan

I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just finished my final exams in college and I decided to take some time off and go backpacking around Europe. I had been to Europe before, but never on my own, so I was really excited about this adventure.

I packed light, only bringing the essentials: clothes, my camera, some books, and a map of Western Europe. The plan was to make my way from country to country seeing as much as I could along the way. My first stop was Germany, where I stayed for about a week.

During my stay in Germany, I made sure to check out all the must-see attractions including the Berlin Wall, Neuschwanstein Castle and Brandenburg Gate. Despite the cold winter weather that made sightseeing a bit more challenging than expected, I still managed to take some beautiful pictures of these iconic landmarks.

After Germany came France and Spain – both of which provided me with some unforgettable experiences. In Paris, I visited the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral while in Barcelona, enjoyed the incredible architecture of La Sagrada Familia and Park Güell.

However, it wasn’t until I reached Italy that things really took off for me. From Rome to Florence to Venice – Italy certainly lived up to its reputation as one of the most breathtakingly beautiful countries in Europe. Everywhere you looked there were stunning works of art and architecture that could only be admired in person rather than through a picture or video screen.

To say that this backpacking trip around Western Europe changed me would be an understatement – it taught me so much about culture, language and history that no textbook ever could have done.

Conclusion:

Did I ever tell you about the time I went backpacking in Western Europe? It was an incredible experience that changed me forever and one that will stay with me for life!
