Did They Find the Lady Who Fell Off the Cruise Ship?

By Michael Ferguson

On the night of August 16, 2020, a middle-aged woman fell off the side of a cruise ship into the Mediterranean Sea. She was reported to have gone overboard while the ship was in international waters off the coast of Italy. The cruise ship’s crew immediately began searching for the missing woman and alerted authorities in nearby countries.

The search for the woman quickly became an international effort. Navy vessels from Italy and France joined search and rescue teams from Croatia and Montenegro to scour a wide area for any sign of her. The area was heavily monitored with aerial drones, helicopters, ships, and underwater cameras.

Unfortunately, after seven days of intense searching, there was still no sign of the missing woman. Many experts feared that she had most likely drowned or been swept away by strong currents in such a short time period. The search eventually had to be called off due to lack of evidence and difficult weather conditions.
