How Big Is the Smallest Cruise Ship?

By Michael Ferguson

The modern-day cruise industry is built on ships that range from average to ginormous, but the smallest cruise ship in the world is a much more intimate affair. The smallest cruise ship in the world is the Hebridean Princess, which measures just 97 metres long. This small size allows it to navigate narrow waterways and ports which larger ships cannot access.

Hebridean Princess was originally built as a car ferry in 1964, however, it was converted into a luxury cruise ship in 1988. Despite its small size, it still offers plenty of amenities for its passengers.

There are 30 cabins and suites onboard that can accommodate up to 60 passengers at a time. The cabins are all decorated with classic elegance and feature modern amenities like satellite TVs and Wi-Fi.

The onboard restaurants offer fine dining experiences with menus featuring both contemporary and traditional dishes from Scotland and further afield. There’s also an extensive wine list for those who want to enjoy a glass of something special as they sail around Scotland’s beautiful islands.

Of course, no cruise would be complete without some entertainment options and Hebridean Princess has plenty of these too. Passengers can relax on the sun deck or take part in activities such as bridge tournaments or whisky tastings. There’s also a library where guests can curl up with a good book or watch a movie on the big screen.

Conclusion

At only 97 metres long, Hebridean Princess is undoubtedly the smallest cruise ship in the world and yet it still offers plenty of amenities for its passengers. From luxurious cabins to fine dining restaurants and entertainment options, this little ship packs a lot into its tiny frame.
