How Do You Drink Coffee While Backpacking?

By Anna Duncan

When backpacking, coffee can be a great source of comfort and energy. Whether you’re out for a few days or a few weeks, it’s important to find ways to stay energized and motivated. One way to do that is to bring coffee with you on your adventure.

The first step in drinking coffee while backpacking is to decide what kind of coffee you want to bring.

There are many types of instant coffee, as well as ground coffee that can be brewed with a French press or an Aeropress. Instant coffee is the easiest option, as it requires no brewing and can be made with just hot water. For those who prefer freshly brewed coffee, there are lightweight brewing tools like the Aeropress, which makes a great cup of joe without taking up too much space in your pack.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred method of making coffee, the next step is deciding how you’ll transport it. If you’re using instant coffee, then all you need is some sort of container that will keep the powder dry and won’t take up too much room in your pack.

If you’re using ground coffee and a brewing tool, then an airtight container for the grounds and another for the brew tool are essential.

The last step is actually making your cup of joe while out on the trail. This can be done by simply heating water over a camp stove or fire and adding it to your instant coffee or grounds in a mug or other container for brewing.

For those who use an Aeropress or French press, boiling water over a camp stove or fire will also work; however, most modern camping stoves come with control knobs that allow for precise temperature control so that your brew doesn’t get too hot.

Conclusion:

Drinking coffee while backpacking involves deciding what type of coffee you prefer, finding an appropriate way to transport it, and then actually making it on the trail using either an instant version or brewing tools like the Aeropress or French press. With some planning ahead of time and some creativity while out camping, enjoying a good cup o’ joe while out on an adventure is easy!
