Is Smoking Allowed on a Disney Cruise Ship?

By Alice Nichols

Smoking is not allowed on Disney Cruise Line ships. While Disney does offer designated smoking areas on some of its other properties, Disney Cruise Line ships are smoke-free and do not have designated smoking areas. This policy applies to all crew members, passengers and their guests.

Disney Cruise Line ships have no tolerance for smoking inside of any of their staterooms or public areas. This includes e-cigarettes and other electronic devices designed to simulate smoking. Guests found in violation of the smoke-free policy may be subject to disciplinary action, including disembarkation from the ship at the guest’s own expense.

Smoking is allowed on balconies, decks and verandas located outside of staterooms and public areas; however, care must be taken when discarding cigarette butts to ensure that they are properly extinguished and disposed of in designated receptacles.

Disney Cruise Line also has a policy in place that requires guests to refrain from smoking in any part of the ship that is within 10 feet (3 meters) of an entrance, open deck area or other enclosed area that is accessible to minors or non-smoking guests. This policy also applies to all electronic cigarettes.

In addition to the 10-foot rule, guests must carry proof that they are over 18 years old if they want to smoke on a Disney cruise ship. Guests who fail to comply with the rules may be asked by a crew member to stop smoking or leave the area.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, it is clear that smoking is not allowed on Disney cruise ships—including e-cigarettes—and those who are found in violation may be subject to disciplinary action. Additionally, there are restrictions around where people can smoke outdoors on board the ship—including a 10-foot (3 meter) rule from entrances and open deck areas—and proof of age must be carried if someone wants to smoke at all.
