Is There Any Cruise Ship in Chennai?

By Alice Nichols

Chennai, also known as Madras, is the capital of Tamil Nadu and one of the largest cities in India. It is home to many tourist attractions, vibrant culture and the bustling Chennai port. While there are many ferries and cruise ships that travel to various destinations from Chennai, there are no cruise ships operating from Chennai itself.

The Chennai Port is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal and is a major hub for maritime transportation. It serves as a gateway to South India and offers numerous cargo transport services to various ports around the world. However, it does not offer any cruise services due to its location on the Bay of Bengal.

Chennai is home to some of India’s most popular beaches such as Marina Beach, Besant Nagar Beach and Elliot’s Beach. It offers a plethora of tourist attractions such as temples, monuments, art galleries and museums. There are several places in and around Chennai where one can enjoy sightseeing tours on boat cruises.

The nearest port from Chennai that offers cruise ship services is Kochi, located about 250km away in Kerala. Several international cruise liners like Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and MSC Cruises have regular departures from Kochi. These companies offer luxury cruises with exciting destinations including Sri Lanka, Maldives and Thailand.

Conclusion:

So while there are no cruise ships operating from Chennai itself, tourists can still experience cruises boarding from nearby Kochi port which offers various luxury cruises with destination options including Sri Lanka, Maldives and Thailand. Thus providing a great option for those looking for an enjoyable vacation.
