What Cruise Ship Did the Toddler Fall From?

By Robert Palmer

On Thursday, October 15th, a two-year-old toddler fell from the 11th deck of the Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Freedom of the Seas. The girl was travelling with her family when she plummeted from a height of about 150 feet into the sea below. The incident happened at around 4 pm local time as the ship was nearing Puerto Rico.

The US Coast Guard immediately began searching for the child and sent out helicopters to aid in their search. Witnesses reported that they saw a child, who was wearing pink water wings, fall from the ship’s upper deck. Other passengers on board also reported hearing a woman screaming and then seeing an empty stroller on one of the decks.

The United States Coast Guard searched for nearly 36 hours before they finally located the girl’s body around 2 miles north of where she fell off the ship. It is believed that she had been in the water for more than 10 hours before her body was found by local fishermen who were in the area at the time.

Investigations are still ongoing as to how this happened and whether or not it could have been prevented. The Royal Caribbean Cruise Company has stated that they are deeply saddened by this incident and are cooperating with authorities during their investigations. They are also providing support and assistance to the family during this difficult time.
