What Does Aft Facing Mean on a Cruise Ship?

By Anna Duncan

When it comes to a cruise ship holiday, there are many things to consider. From the size and type of the ship, to the destinations and activities available on board.

One important aspect which can often be overlooked is the cabin location. Does your cabin face forward or aft?

An ‘aft-facing’ cabin is one which is located at the back, or stern, of the ship. This means that when you look out of your window or balcony, you will be looking in the direction that the ship is travelling in. An aft-facing cabin gives a great view of where you have been and what you have seen on your journey, providing a fantastic opportunity for reflection and relaxation.

Aft-facing cabins are usually more expensive than other cabins due to their superior location and view. They also tend to have larger balconies as they are located at the widest part of a cruise ship – this allows for plenty of outdoor space to enjoy breathtaking sea views. It’s worth noting that these cabins may also be more prone to movement during rougher seas due to their position at the back of the boat; however if you are prone to seasickness then an aft-facing cabin could still benefit from being closer to calmer waters in comparison with other parts of the vessel.

Aft-facing cabins can also provide an excellent vantage point for taking photographs during a cruise holiday. Many people like to take pictures from their balcony or window as they sail along, capturing stunning sunsets or unique landmarks as they pass by. Having an aft-facing cabin makes it easier for passengers to take these shots without having to worry about obstructions in front of them such as lifeboats or funnels blocking their view while they capture those perfect moments!

Conclusion:

In conclusion, an aft-facing cabin provides passengers with many perks during a cruise holiday – from breathtaking views and larger balconies, through to improved photography opportunities and calmer seas in comparison with other parts of the vessel. Although these cabins come at a higher cost than other types available on board ships, many people find that it is worth paying for as they experience all that an aft-facing cabin has to offer!
