Who Is in Charge of Entertainment on a Cruise Ship?

Cruise ships are a popular form of entertainment for travellers. Aside from the exciting destinations, passengers also look forward to the onboard entertainment offerings. So who is responsible for making sure that cruisers have a good time?

The Entertainment Department on a cruise ship is led by the Cruise Director. He or she is in charge of all onboard entertainment, including the production shows, activities, contests, and other events that take place during the voyage. The Cruise Director works with a team of professionals and volunteers from various departments to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

The Cruise Director’s team consists of an Assistant Cruise Director, Activity Hosts, Dancers and/or Singers, an Audio/Visual Technician, DJs and Musicians. The Assistant Cruise Director helps with day-to-day operations such as organizing activities and overseeing onboard events.

Activity Hosts lead activities like trivia nights or poolside games. Dancers and singers put on production shows in the main theater. The Audio/Visual Technician operates equipment like microphones and sound systems while DJs provide music throughout the ship.

The Cruise Director also works closely with other departments such as shore excursions, marketing & promotions and culinary services to ensure that all aspects of the cruise experience are enjoyable for passengers.
