What Do You Eat Backpacking?

Backpacking is an excellent way to explore and experience nature at its fullest. It can provide a sense of freedom and adventure, as well as a great way to stay active and healthy. But what do you eat when backpacking?

The best way to ensure that you stay healthy and energized while on the trail is to plan ahead and pack nutritious snacks and meals. Nutritious snacks like dried fruit, nuts, beef jerky, granola bars, trail mix, peanut butter sandwiches, crackers, cheese sticks, applesauce cups and even dark chocolate can provide you with the energy you need to keep going. You may also want to consider bringing a lightweight camp stove if you plan on cooking your own meals.

Breakfast

  • Oatmeal: A hot bowl of oatmeal can be made with just boiling water and doesn’t require a stove or fire. Add some nuts or dried fruit for extra nutrition.
  • Pancakes: Pancake mix just requires water for preparation.

    Bring a lightweight camping skillet or griddle to cook pancakes on your campfire.
