Who Was the Man That Jumped Off the Carnival Cruise Ship?

On July 24, 2020, a man jumped off the Carnival Cruise Ship Ecstasy off the coast of Galveston, Texas. The man was identified as 25-year-old Brian Lamont Smith from Mobile, Alabama. His body was recovered by Coast Guard personnel shortly after the incident occurred.

The incident began when Smith and his companions were aboard the cruise ship and were asked to leave the vessel by security personnel due to disruptive behavior. Smith then jumped off the side of the ship into the Gulf of Mexico at around 8:00 pm.

Smith’s friends told authorities that he had been drinking heavily throughout the day before jumping off the ship. They also stated that he had been acting erratically and was not in his right frame of mind when he made the decision to jump.

The Coast Guard searched for Smith for several hours before locating his body in the water around 11:00 pm. The investigation is still ongoing as to how and why Smith made this fateful decision to jump from a moving cruise ship in open water.
