Where Is the Cruise Ship Noordam Now?

By Robert Palmer

The Noordam is a mid-size cruise ship owned by Holland America Line, which is a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation. The vessel was built in 2006 by Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri and can accommodate up to 2,106 passengers. The Noordam has an impressive array of amenities and activities, including a casino, multiple restaurants, lounges and bars, a spa, swimming pools and whirlpools, fitness centers, shops, and entertainment venues.

The Noordam typically sails seven-day itineraries that call on ports throughout the Caribbean and western Mediterranean. Passengers will visit places like Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Italy’s Amalfi Coast and islands in the Greek Isles. Onboard they are able to take advantage of the many amenities available to them or take advantage of shore excursions that give them an opportunity to explore each port.

In April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic Holland America Line suspended operations of all its ships until further notice. As such the Noordam was sent back home to its port in Tampa Florida where it remains docked waiting for operations to resume.

The Noordam is currently undergoing extensive cleaning and disinfecting procedures before it can be used again for cruising purposes. In addition the crew have been taking part in safety drills related to potential pandemics as well as training on understanding passenger health protocols before they are allowed back onboard again. The crew have also been taking part in volunteer work helping out with local charities while also using this time for maintenance projects onboard which would have otherwise been done during regular cruising operations.

Holland America Line has stated that they hope to resume operations when it is safe to do so but no details have yet been released as to when this may happen. In the meantime the Noordam remains docked at its homeport in Tampa Florida waiting patiently for an announcement that it can return back out into open waters once more.

Conclusion
Where Is the Cruise Ship Noordam Now? Currently it is docked at Tampa Bay Florida awaiting further instructions from Holland America Line about when operations may once again resume so that it can sail out again into open waters with passengers onboard enjoying its many amenities and activities available during their cruise experience.
