By Anna Duncan

It was one of the most magical and life changing experiences of my life. It was a three month journey that I took through various countries in western Europe, including France, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.

I flew into Paris and spent the first week exploring the city. From there I traveled to Barcelona via train and stayed for a couple of days before taking a ferry to Mallorca. In Mallorca I rented a car and drove around the island for two weeks exploring its stunning landscapes and quaint villages.

At the end of my trip in Mallorca, I took another ferry to Naples, Italy where I stayed for five days before taking a train to Florence. In Florence, I made sure to visit all the famous museums and art galleries that the city is known for. Afterward, I took another train to Milan where I spent two days shopping in the fashion district before heading off to Switzerland by train.

In Switzerland, I explored Zurich and Geneva as well as some of the smaller towns surrounding them. My final destination on this backpacking trip was Paris where I stayed for one last week before flying back home.

This backpacking trip was an incredible experience that opened my eyes to different cultures, languages, and lifestyles in Western Europe. From eating local cuisine in small towns on Mallorca to exploring some of Europe’s most iconic cities like Paris, Florence, Milan and Zurich – it really was an adventure of a lifetime!
