Backpacking through Western Europe was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!
After months of planning and saving, I finally made my way to London, and it felt like a dream come true. From there, I explored the cities of Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid. Everywhere I went was breathtakingly beautiful.
The culture in each place was so unique and interesting that it often felt like stepping into a different world. In England, I sampled traditional dishes like fish and chips, bangers and mash, and spotted dick; in France, I enjoyed indulgent treats like macarons, croissants, and crepes; in Spain and Portugal, tapas were a highlight.
I also had the opportunity to see some incredible sights along the way – including the Eiffel Tower in Paris; Buckingham Palace in London; Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona; The Prado Museum in Madrid – just to name a few!
Travelling alone was daunting at first but it gave me an amazing sense of freedom that allowed me to meet new people along the way – people that would eventually become lifelong friends. We explored together on day trips outside the cities – from hikes up Mount Snowdonia in Wales to wine tasting on sunny vineyards in Spain.
Going backpacking through Western Europe changed my life for the better! It gave me a newfound appreciation for different cultures as well as an understanding of what it takes to be self-sufficient on long journeys away from home.
Most importantly though, it made me realise how much fun you can have when you take risks to step out of your comfort zone.
In conclusion, backpacking through Western Europe will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my favourite adventures so far! It’s an experience that has taught me so much about myself as well as others – something that I wouldn’t trade for anything else.
